What are Australian pallet racking standards, and what governs them?
Australian pallet racking standards govern the use of pallets in storage and transportation. These standards are set by the Australian Standard AS/NZS 4084-2012. This standard covers the design, manufacture and testing of pallets for use in Australia and New Zealand. The standard is designed to ensure that pallets are safe and fit for purpose. It covers both new and used pallets, as well as the repair and refurbishment of existing pallets.
The Australian Standard AS/NZS 4084-2012 is based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard ISO 8611-1:2009. This standard specifies the requirements for new, used and repaired wooden pallets used in storage, transportation or handling operations and applies to all types of wood, including hardwoods and softwoods.
