Pallet Jacks

Looking to increase productivity in your warehouse or distribution centre? Consider getting a pallet jack. These powerful and straightforward pieces of equipment can transform how you transport products, ultimately saving you both time and money.

Our pallet jacks are designed for durability and easy operation. Our electric models are perfect for busy warehouses and distribution centres, while our manual models are ideal for light-duty applications.

What Is A Pallet Jack, And How Are They Used?

A pallet jack is a material handling equipment used to move heavy pallets of goods or materials from one place to another, commonly found in warehouses, factories, and other commercial environments.

There are two types of pallet jacks: manual and electric. Manual pallet jacks are operated by the user pushing or pulling the unit, while electric pallet jacks have an onboard battery that powers the device. Electric pallet jacks are also typically used in larger operations where heavy loads have a lot of movement.

What Is The Difference Between An Electric And Manual Pallet Jack?

Differentiating between the electric and manual pallet jack is crucial for maximising efficiency. The electric jack’s battery power enables easier manoeuvring and faster speeds, while the manual jack requires the operator’s physical strength, leading to slower and more strenuous work.

It’s important to assess your business’s specific needs when deciding on what type of pallet jack to choose. An electric model is ideal for quickly transporting large amount of heavy products. However, if you operate in a restricted area or move smaller loads, then a manual model may be more suitable.

Difference Between Pallet Jack Batteries:

Choosing the right battery for your pallet jack is crucial, as it can have significant effects on business operations. Though lead acid batteries are the typical choice with pallet jacks, lithium based batteries are gaining traction with their numerous advantages.

Lead Acid Batteries
Lead acid batteries are less expensive and more prevalent than other types, but have a shorter lifespan. Overcharging can cause them to release dangerous gases and electrolytes, and they are susceptible to sulfation – a process where the battery develops a coating of lead sulphate on its plates, weakening its ability to hold a charge over time.
However, lead acid batteries are also highly reliable and can withstand a range of operating temperatures after delivering high currents. They are also easy to find and replace should you need a new one.

Lithium Batteries
Although lithium batteries are more costly initially, they offer greater long-term benefits since they require less upkeep and are eco-friendlier as they do not contain heavy metals and are recyclable. Furthermore, they charge faster and provide more power. They also have a low self-discharge rate, allowing them to maintain a certain level of charge when not in use.

However, lithium batteries do have some drawbacks apart from their cost. They can be sensitive to high temperatures and may require additional cooling measures in extreme conditions. If they are not charged properly or are damaged, they can be susceptible to fire or thermal runaway, which is when they become excessively hot and release heat on their own.

Though if treated and cared for well, lithium batteries are a reliable source of energy, especially for using an electric pallet jack.
